The Lake District’s Leading Musculoskeletal, Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Rehabilitation Clinic

(4th November 2020)

Following the Government’s announcement of a further UK lockdown from the 5th November we can confirm that we will be able to remain open to provide physiotherapy and sports injury treatment due to the underpinning statement of medical continuation for public health reasons. This states that ‘medical and health services’ should continue their services and confirmation has been received from PHE that both physiotherapy and sports therapy are included in this definition.

We should clarify it is stated that any holistic based massage is not included, but that massage as part of a specific treatment plan or therapeutic in nature is allowed. This remains at the discretion and clinical reasoning of your clinician and will be documented in line with the government and governing body regulations.

Under the new guidelines, travel is permitted for all medical appointments. This can be viewed here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-national-restrictions-from-5-november

Face to Face Consultations

In line with Government, Health & Safety, and Governing Body guidelines, we have undertaken comprehensive risk assessments and developed COVID-secure protocols that ensure both staff and patients are at minimal risk.  This documentation, alongside specific new protocols, will be communicated with all patients who book face to face consultations prior to attending.  In order to determine that a face to face consultation is required, we may contact you in advance.  Face to face work now includes maintenance and massage sessions but may still depend on clinicians governing body guidelines.  If you wish to discuss this in more detail please do so when you make your appointment.  It is important to us that all parties are comfortable with the process.

Virtual/Remote Care

We continue to offer virtual support online and via telephone for those unable, or who prefer not to attend in person. These sessions are focussed on updating your presenting issue in much the same way as face to face, advising on progress, strengthening, and updating exercises

Please do feel free to contact us with any questions at all on 01539 822746 or clinic@thebodyrehab.co.uk.

We hope that you are all safe and well, and also that you are looking after your friends and family in the best way you can at this time.
